Masahiro Kamiyama was born in 1955. In 1977, he studied Kaga zogan metal crafts under Oh Mizuno at Industrial Research Institute of Ishikawa, as a trainee learning the traditional industry of Ishikawa Prefecture. In 1978, he joined Fukusho Industry Ltd., an art casting foundry. In 1980, he studied under a master Bisyo Kazawa and went on to join his Kazawabisyou Studio to be an ornament artisan. While working at the studio, he joined the studio's project to create metal crafts with reverence for the Showa Dai Nokyo (Showa Period's Great Sutra), which was dedicated when the Todaiji Temple underwent the period's largest scale repair and renovation. He also joined the studio's project to create metal crafts with reverence for Onshozoku-shinpo (the sacred adornments and treasures dedicated to the deities), when the 61st Shikinen Sengu ritual of Ise Jingu was held.
