祈り

たとえ何者になれなかったとしても、良く生きようと願い続けた日々に　本物の価値がある。 この作品で描こうとしているのは、 冬虫夏草に犯されて成虫になることを阻止されてしまった "無念の幼虫" ではありません。 近年の研究で、 蝉から祖先的な共生細菌が失われ、その代わりに寄生性の冬虫夏草を起源とする真菌類との共生関係が何度も進化してきたことが明らかになりました。（琉球大学より） 冬虫夏草が存在しなければ、失われた共生細菌の代わりとなるものを生み出すことが出来ず、蝉達は絶滅していたのです。 子孫を残すために成虫になるのも、冬虫夏草の宿主となり共生細菌の死滅という危機に対応できたことも、 命をつなぐという目的のもとにおいては変わらない価値があったのです。 本当の願いは、まだ知らない誰かの役に立つもの。 そんな希望を表すことができていれば、嬉しい限りです。

“Wish”

Even if we couldn't be somebody, the true value lies in the days which we spent with a wish to be better What I'm trying to express with this work is not just the "regretted cicada larvae" that has been prevented from becoming adult by cordyceps sinensis. Recent research has revealed that ancestral symbiotic bacteria have been lost from cicada, and instead, symbiotic relationships with eumycetes originating in parasitic cordyceps sinesis have evolved many times. (according to University of the Ryukyus) Without cordyceps, cicadas could be extinct because they couldn't create a substitute for the lost symbiotic bacteria. It has immutable value for the purpose of saving lives, whether becoming an adult to leave offspring or becoming a host of cordyceps to respond to the crisis of dying symbiotic bacteria. True wish will be useful for someone we don't know yet now. I would be happy if I could express such wish.
